Changing Of The Guard

Those of you who work there know what happened. Those of you who don't probably won't care all that much. But things have changed. For good or ill is still to be seen.

The day shift sergeant (my sarge for the eight months I suffered through day shift) has been removed from the house permanently. For a stupid screwup. I know.. I know... he did it to himself and we all knew it was coming sooner or later, but still... he was a pretty nice guy and did try hard. He just didn't always listen to his staff when he should have. Bullheaded and stubborn at the wrong times.

That whole crew needed breaking up, anyway. None of them liked the sarge and he didn't like most of them, much. Being both one of the crew and somewhat of an outsider, I got to hear both sides of the stories. Sometimes more than two sides. It got aggravating after awhile.

I did a post awhile back about the very subject. Don't remember what it was called, but the pic was of the Hindenburg going up in flames. Just watching that whole crew self destruct was hurtful and somewhat alarming in the fact that I still depended on them to watch my back and they were busy tearing each other apart.

So he made a stupid mistake and now he's pulled out of the house. I think it's for the best, but I don't like the way it happened. And it almost got more people pulled as well. That would not have been pretty for anybody. And there's no telling who they will get for a new sergeant. There's a short list and some of them will be just as difficult to work with as the last one.

Be careful what you wish for......

  2. I know.... nobody really wants to say anything, but the guy wasn't that bad. They have been gunning for him since day one and now may have ruined his career. That's a crappy thing to do. He deserves better than that. Pulling out of the house, yes. But fired, no.

  3. Love the blog, big fan. Can I bother someone for a clarification? It appears your state assigns cellies for inmates in adseg. As a Pshrink it my duty to point out that if you do, that violates like at least 5 principles of the whole "Time Out" procedure. Just letting ya know.

  4. icypup- Yes! It's all true! I'm so ashamed! (grin) We have one adseg unit with 100 cells. 75 of them are 2 man cells and the other 25 are solitary. Not too many years ago there were no solitary cells. And the way we are getting crowded, we may have to go back to that again. We need either a bigger adseg unit, a second unit, or a whole other prison. None of those options are going to happen anytime in the near future.

  5. It will be a bloody mess before it is over...several others will be pulled..it is what happens when one throws rocks and lives in a glass house...

As far it being a real adseg...well..it is not really a real prison...most of chomos...that get all kind of benefits...I really wonder how these Racconville citizens would fair at a big boy prison????

  6. Anon- Yer right there, bud. The Hive is far from a 'real" Adseg and Raccoon City is far from Pelican Bay or Alcatraz. It's mostly just a rest stop for child molesters.

I'm sure there's going to be another shakeup coming staff-wise. I can feel it coming.
