An Open Letter

An open letter to The Kid.

Kid,
One of these days Mommy and daddy aren't going to be there to support you anymore and you are probably going to find out the hard way that when you have a job in the real world, people expect you to actually work for a paycheck, not just show up now and then.

You are going to have to learn to do the stuff that you don't want to do because it's your job and if you don't do it they will fire you.

That's what having a job is all about.

One of these days you are going to have to grow up and put on your big girl panties and take responsibility for your actions. Or lack thereof.

And one of these days you are going to discover that pissing off people who are older than you is a really really bad idea. Just because you are young and lift weights does not make you either invulnerable or immortal.

And I really hope you find all of this out before you get yourself or someone else killed.

And I really do hope you find all of this out somewhere else, because inside the fence you scare the hell out of me and I don't want to be anywhere near when life teaches you all of these lessons.

Sincerely, The Rev

And that's all I have to say about that.

So, on to the calendar. Friday is National Shrimp Scampi Day. Yum! It's is also National Dance Day, National Hairball Awareness Day and Save The Frogs Day.

  1. Sounds like you had one of those days. The closest counterpart of "The Kid" at my work recently found another job. I can't say any of us are sorry.

Where do I get my free comic book?

  2. There's no one I can stand less than a cowboy, a butthole, or a door warrior inside the wire! I'm 26 years old, and kids like that make me angry. They make me look bad by extention, and there is nothing I hate more than to be made to look bad. Not to mention the very real and actual physical and even mortal danger they put us in!!!

  3. Bryan- He made one of my favorite Sergeants lose his temper and get pulled out of his house. I have a feeling that the walls of employability are closing in on him around here. he won't be missed.

Drew- But you are remarkably mature for one so young and tender. Even if you're still wet behind the ears. Don't worry, he doesn't reflect on you.

  4. I don't know how I managed to miss this post, too.

Is The Kid a woman? Because when it started out I thought you were talking about a dude, but then you said "big girl panties" so I got confused...
